The first night while walking on the river walk we spotted this carriage on a road and thought it  would be fun to ride in.  Thursday night as we pulled up to the hotel one of these carriages drove up, we just had to take a ride.  It was a ladies night; Rachel, Cathy, and MaryJo;  We had a nice tour of the historic German mansions King William district and South town.  So much fun!  We were princesses for an evening.

Just love this picture.

We are Proud of our Airman!

Mmm, Food

After the Coin Ceremony Michael was released for base liberty.  We decided to have BBQ for lunch and enjoy talking,, laughing, and the weather. After lunch we enjoyed shopping with our new Airman at the Exchange.

For dinner we decided to try the Gateway Club.  We found a nice  quiet spot on the patio to enjoy the food,  family, and beautiful weather.  We sat till sunset and had a nice view of the San Antonio skyline.

Coin Ceremony

The coin ceremony started at 11:00.  This is where the Recruits receive a Airforce coin signifying they are now Airman.

Passing out the coins

Airman's Run

Thursday January 24, 2013 started out with the Airman's Run.  This is were family lines up along a road and the troupes run by in their Flights singing Jodies.  We started standing out on the road at 6:45 in the thick fog.  The picture above you can almost see the troupes down the road in the distance.

Airman's Run poster

Several weeks before graduation Emmaline and I created a poster for Michael and the Airman's run.  Then I brought the poster with me everywhere and many people signed it, writing best wishes and words of encouragement.  Some of the groups I photographed and created this collage and mailed him a copy.  I told me that he loved the pictures and so did his friends.

Arrival in San Antonio

Yesterday Wednesday January 23rd was a busy and exciting day for the Watson family.  Jim and MaryJo arrived in San Antonio around 12:30; Kim and Cathy arrived around 2:30.  Matt and I started our drive from New Orleans through Louisiana and into Texas arriving in San Antonio at 4 PM.  After much excitement, talking, and settling into the hotel we decided to explore.  The six of us piled into the mini van and did a trail run to Lackland AFB.  We drove around the base for awhile and found the dorms, parade field, reception center, and the BX.  We spent a few minutes at the Starbucks at the BX.  After returning to the hotel we walked along the river walk to find a dinner spot.  We ate at a nice Mexican restaurant and had a nice stroll on the river walk.  Above is a picture of the river walk at night.
